Job Purpose:
The International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) has been designated to recruit Legal Officers for the UNHCR-lead activities designed to support the Greek authorities in efforts to enhance capacity and quality of asylum procedures in the context of the implementation of the Greek Action Plan on Migration Management and Asylum Reform.

Duties:
The incumbent will participate, on behalf of UNHCR, in the examination of asylum claims at 2nd instance level. She/he will be responsible for case preparation, interviewing and assessment of individual asylum claims and will participate in the decision-making process. She/he will stay abreast of developments in human rights, refugee protection and refugee status determination issues and will keep UNHCR abreast on all developments relating to the asylum procedures in Greece and generate accurate and timely internal protection or legal reports.

Skills/Qualifications:
University degree (BA) in Law, Political Science, International Relations or other relevant discipline; Minimum of three (3) years of relevant working experience, in particular, in the human rights and/or refugee field; Excellent oral and written Greek and English language skills; Excellent research, writing and analytical skills; Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural team; Knowledge and understanding of the asylum situation in Greece an asset.
